Julian Cole professes that "he must chase the muse. So much to do, so little time."  He obtained a Masters Degree in Architecture, however, he has always been fascinated with art, music, sculpture and photography.   Having a keen interest in photography, he turned professional and opened a successful studio.

After several years, he was asked to join the space program as Master Scientific Photographer for N.A.S.A.    His next move was to Teledyne Corp., a contractor for N.A.S.A., as Department head of the Presentations Department which included artists, writers, model makers, photographers, cinematographers and a full blown printing department. All this had to be “in house” because of “top secret” work.  After the space program wound down, he worked at an advertising agency, as creative director, moving on to a motion picture studio in Phoenix, Arizona as Film Director, Cinematographer, Film Editor and Music Editor.  Moving to Atlanta, he worked for Storer Studios as Producer, Writer, Cinematographer and Director. Opening his own production company in Nashville, he produced films for many national advertising agencies, National Geographic, B.B.C., French and Italian Television, including Cinematography for the feature film, "THE DISK JOCKEY".  He was a founding member of the Tennessee Film Commission, producing films for the state of Tennessee, for the City of Nashville, and many commercials, one of which might be recognized by people in the state, "TENNESSEE TRASH". He has several hundred awards to his credit, including International, National, Regional and local, garnering several “BEST OF SHOW”.  Retiring from all that, after a short time said, ”to heck with this”, but with the encouragement of his daughters, started creating images as,

Julian Cole/Contemporary Art.

In his extensive travels over the years, he had stored images and ideas in his mind, which are now being committed to canvas.  Julian is executing a collection of Fine Art Originals, using archival pigmented ink on canvas, and Limited Edition works on canvas.  Some are realistic, some are impressionistic....all are unique.

After 25 years in the design industry, I finally came across a unique style of art that fits into the contemporary and traditional lifestyles of my clients.  With the fluid and soothing composition of each piece, most will fit any design style. Having a passion for the art of Julian Cole, the artist and I made the decision to add the title, "agent",  to my name. His work is so good,  I felt compelled to let the the rest of the world know about it. We are presenting "Original" and "Limited Edition" pieces created by Julian. His art ranges from abstract to realistic.  All of his art is signed, numbered (if a limited edition), presented on archival canvas, and coated with a high quality UV protectant.  Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity,  signed by the artist.

I would like to stress that the internet does not reflect the quality of this fine work.  As one discovers the intricate detail of his fine art,  the more one admires it.  If you like the concept,  you will love the finished work.

About The Process

I must first visualize the ultimate image. I then construct the scene physically. I gather the components, digitally photograph, then enter them into the computer as raw images. From this point every move is done in the computer.

For example: "Golden Knight"... I located a suit of armor, banner, sword, model ( in this case I photographed myself), rented or borrowed the props, lugged them to the studio, did the lighting and photographed them individually. All this took several weeks.

Starting with the armor: The only suitable armor I could locate had the faceguard down and bolted. I digitally moved it to the top of the helmet, painting in some changes to make it smaller and more in proportion. The armor was a dull pewter color... I changed it to golden. The next step was to size the face and place it into the armor, blending it with a brush as I went. ( I use electronic brushes in different sizes, shapes and density, controlled with a mouse or digital tablet.) I am effectively painting by hand... only with an electronic brush. The rendered face was enhanced with a short beard. I placed the sword at his side. The background was done in dark tones and the subdued banner was rendered. I can control perspective, color, size, hue, tone, angle, etc. Small enhancements are done by hand after I print the work on my large, highly sophisticated printer.

One may purchase a print (if available), as the "Only" print that will ever be made, signed and numbered 1/1. A Certificate of Authenticity will be included. Artworks that have already sold as limited editions will be signed and numbered, with only 50 in each edition.

My prints are not Giclées, and are considered originals, by virtue of how they are produced.

About Digital Art

Fine Art that has been created using 21st century techniques, such as digital art, are on the cutting edge. If an artist has created the image and printed it himself as the final artwork, it is considered original. Using highly sophisticated printers and archival pigmented ink, on canvas, each piece of fine art will last a lifetime.

The distinction as to whether a digital print is "original" is determined by whether the work was created by the artist, to be finalized as an original print. A digital print of a work that originated as a painting or drawing is a reproduction or Giclée and therefore is not an original.
