Tableau L’encre (ta blo lon cra):
A term coined by Julian Cole, to describe his work. Literally, it is a French phrase meaning "Painting with ink". The creative process, of course, begins in the mind. His sketchs are captured with “The Camera”, transferred to the computer, and through the use of various tools and techniques and manipulation of these images, the art is born. The image is then transferred to canvas using pigmented ink and given a u.v. coating.
What constitues “The original” or one of a kind? The first transfer to canvas is the original, signed and numbered “1 / 1”, with no other transfers ever to be made. A certificate of authenticity is produced to that effect. If the art sells first as a limited edition, there will be no original or “one of a kind”. The quality will be the same on all transfers. There will never be more than 50 transfers of each piece of fine art in existence. All of these will be protected with a certificate of authenticity. All artwork is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced. .
